My Farrell's journey started when my husband was promoted to headquarters in Des Moines for the State Patrol. I was searching for some sort of group fitness program, having come from a small town Jazzercise program. Recovering from a broken back, I wasn't sure what type program I could do. I was talking with another troopers wife who coincidentally was doing some book keeping for Farrell's at the home office. She was struggling with her weight and needed someone to help her , she asked if I would enroll at Farrell's and be her accountability buddy, I said Yes!

What really kept me going and helped me achieve my goals were the friends and family I made along the way. The community we have here at FXB sets us apart from the rest. When I am not at FXB, I enjoy spending time with my husband and my son. They are my reason WHY.

In the beginning I was using several excuses: I was too old, I was on thyroid medication, I'd had children and this just wasn't going to be possible. All of which obviously are lies we tell ourselves every day. I stay in the program to maintain good physical health and an active lifestyle. I love helping others and seeing them achieve these types of results for themselves every day throughout this program.

No matter what kind of day I have had, when I come in to teach, it all gets better. I love instructing both kickboxing and strength training!! I would say my favorite kickboxing combinations include hooks... and roundhouses, they're good for the abs too! I love leg day!! My favorite strength training exercises are squats and the donkey kick combo.

I love FXB because there is little thinking involved. You show up for 45 minutes, rock the bags or the bands and go home. Follow a very easy nutrition plan and BAM....results. This is a program that is maintainable for the long haul.

I started with Farrell's in April of 2017. I was the heaviest I had ever been aside from being pregnant. I gave all the typical excuses, I didn't have any time, I didn't have money for a gym membership, I had four children that made my body the way it was and that was "ok." For me this program has truly been life changing and having the opportunity to continue with Farrell's as an instructor is an honor.

From that very first day, Farrell's felt like I was supposed to be there. Everyone was very welcoming and the accountability to my new family was overwhelming (in a good way)! I don’t have a “normal” time anymore because I teach many different class times. Each one brings a different type of energy and I love the feeling of being home when I walk in the door.

I started FXB in July 2018 @ 4am while my husband was deployed. I absolutely love helping people. I love helping them grow their confidence and to step outside their comfort zones to reach their goals. Everyone needs to remember that you are worth 45 minutes a day to focus on yourself (even if it’s at 4am). You are important and worth it!

When I finally fully committed to my health, I was nearly 250 lbs. I couldn’t tie my own shoes and almost went blind due to a weight related health complication. At such a young age this was terrifying, and I knew something needed to be done. Through Farrell’s I have lost over 100lbs and continue to get stronger every single day. I will say, in my opinion, the most key aspect of any “health journey” is not your exercise routine or even nutrition… it is having a community to support you through the highs and lows. Farrell’s is that community for me! I have had people rooting for me and pushing me along the way (even when they don’t know it). I am very grateful to FXB for that!

I am new to instructing at Farrell’s but have been member since January 2019. I had been diagnosed with “pre” Type 2 diabetes and needed to do something. I did not want to take meds and wanted to try to lose some weight and get healthier. I am in the best shape of my life now and have made some of my best friends here. My goal every day is to make someone smile and push everyone to do their best. Woooooo!
